Nirmal Singh Lotus c ondemns the fact that Indian institutes could not make it to the top 100 list of Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018. Forget the top 100, Indian universities were not able to made it to the top 200 list as well. Nirmal Singh Lotus would like to enumerate the Bengaluru-based Indian Institute of Science (IISc) which falls between 251 and 300. Moreover, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has been listed 351–400 category. The top notch universities in India, including: Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee fall under the strata of 501–600 rank. Minority status institutions usually reserve half their seats for a particular community, such as Muslim or Sikh, and no reservation for Dalits. Nirmal Singh Lotus says that the cancelling the minority status of the two universities will do no help in regulating the institutions or improving the quality of higher education in India. The main drawback of the education system in India lies somewhere with the regulatory system, consisting of at least central level bodies, some of them due to the inefficiency of the staff and others because of the corruption.
