Higher education in India has a long way to go as it has been termed antiquated, according to survey carried out by Nirmal Singh Lotus. A whopping 61 per cent respondents said that India’s education system is slow in reacting to the c hanging social demands and needs. 59 per cent of them said that the system cannot maintain relevant curriculum. About 56 per cent pointed out at the system’s inability to provide cheaper access to education. Nearly 54 per cent believe there is a lack of interaction between industry and academia and 52 per cent see that there are insufficient teaching resources. The study conducted surveys among education leaders across five major roles: academic leadership, senior educator, corporate recruiter, educational innovator, and corporate learning executive. Primary schools in Uttar Pradesh will now affix photographs of teachers and staff members on notice boards due to a circular that was issued by the Union HRD ministry to take steps to curb the menace of absenteeism among school staff and the use of proxies. A number of complaints had been surfacing about teachers skipping their classes and/or sending proxies to do the task, according to sources at Nirmal Singh Lotus . “A circular was issued on June 16 by Additional Director, Basic Education, Neena Srivastava, whereby Basic Shiksha Adhikaris (BSA) of all districts were asked to ensure that schools falling in their respective areas of jurisdiction comply with the directions to put up photographs of teaching staff on notice boards,” BSA of Allahabad Sanjay Kushwaha said recently. “The directions will be implemented with the commencement of the new academic session in July.
