From 9th August, You Can Buy NCERT Books Online – Will Be Home-Delivered, Says Nirmal Singh Lotus

Private publishers took advantage of NCERT books not being available before the start of the new session but that will all change soon. NCERT has opened a new online portal through which new books will be sold and delivered.
After 9th of August, you will be able to buy NCERT books online without having to put a foot outside your homes and without struggling in long queues only to find out that the exact book you were looking for is out of stock. - Nirmal Singh Lotus

The National Council of Education Research and Training [NCERT] told in a recent press conference that it is launching a new online portal where parents and students will be able to order books and get them delivered home. The portal will be active throughout the country – students will be given the ability to order for their textbooks online.

Private publishers and publications have been exploiting parents for years. NCERT books go out of stock and these private book publishers come forward and sell their books at high rates. With NCERT taking things online, it will be easier for both students and parents to shop for books without having to worry about the prices. Expensive books and overcharging publishers will definitely go out of the picture. A major step in the right direction’ - Nirmal Singh Lotus

This is a major step taken in the right direction by NCERT. Sources have also revealed that the online portal will also be associated with Flipkart, Amazon and the likes if things worked out according to the initial plan of NCERT. Various online stores will be asked to display the books and also deliver them to the students.

‘Online portals can help this initiative tremendously. Like you order anything online and expect to get it in a couple of days, the same approach will be taken with the books. You will just have to register and order the books you want for the new session, everything else will be managed by NCERT. Talks about the final decision of adding other shopping portals into the mix are being held, soon a decision will be taken.’ - Nirmal Singh Lotus

CBSE affiliated schools are being asked to frame a list of books they will be using this year and submit the list to the authorities before the end of the week. The portal will go online on 9th August.
