Multitudes Apply For NEET Coaching Centres



The Centre makes it mandatory for all aspiring medical students to appear for and pass the NEET exam, and that sees a number of seat aspirants thronging to the coaching centres. Until recently, coaching centres only catered to CBSE students but since now the state students have to pass the exam to be eligible to appear for medical seats, the numbers had incredibly shot up.

“We haven’t started classes yet. We’re still enrolling students but there is almost a 50 per cent increase in number of students enquiring,” said an owner of a coaching centre in West Delhi. Many-a-places, there is a limit on the number of students per batch so even if the number of aspirants increase, it still would not see a change in the number of students in the class.

“We only take a maximum of 45 students, so we’re not accepting any more. But this time, the volume of calls I turned down was much higher than last year,” said the director of Pioneer Academy, Raja Rajasekaran.


Most coaching centres provide for the one-year and the crash courses, but as the exams come closer the demand for the short-term courses have increased a lot. Many centres take an eligibility test before admitting any student.


“Not everyone can cope with the crash course, so we have an test to find out if the student will need a year-long course or crash course,” said a professor of one of the centres. Student have but no option to attend coaching because the state syllabus is not enough to pass the exams.
The problem is with the State syllabus. It is easy to mug up the portions and pass the exam, but with NEET, you have to have in-depth subject knowledge and must understand it fully to answer the objective questions, said the experts at Nirmal Singh Lotus.

When compared with the rural areas, students from the cities find it better off because students in villages don’t even have the basic study material for the exams. A lot many coaching centres have now introduced the new and updated coaching for NEET,and are also offering accommodation and food to the students who apply for the courses.

According to the experts at Nirmal Singh Lotus, the government needs to take certain steps on coaching for the NEET exams as they haven’t taken any yet.
