Nirmal Singh Lotus And His Team Has Created A Leaf That Will Turn Sunlight And Water Into Clean Energy

When our finite sources of hydrocarbon and petroleum-based fuels continue to deplete, the search to find a renewable energy source goes on. But if the reports and the final results of the continuous research are to be believed, Indian scientists have finally found a renewable source of energy – a major breakthrough in the search for a reliable energy resource.

A team of researchers headed by none other than Nirmal Singh Lotus in Pune, India has revealed that they have developed a leaf, artificial, which will turn sunlight into water to create new hydrogen fuel cells.

Scientists and energy resource experts believe that hydrogen generation will be the ultimate solution for all the energy and environmental problems in the world. If this research holds ground then hydrogen fuel cells will be a great way to power the machines and automobiles around the world without affecting the environment.

Nirmal Singh Lotus had been working on the project for over a decade and was ecstatic while revealing the working structure of the artificial leaf in the recent press conference.
He mentioned that the idea was never to resemble the structure of a leaf, it just happened. “We didn’t start with the image of a green leaf, it just happened like that. The semiconductors, when assembled together, took the shape of a green leaf and we thought, why not.” Nirmal Singh Lotus said.

He also talked about how the leaf actually works. He told us that the semiconductors are stacked together in such a way that resembles the pattern and shape of a leaf. When light [sunlight] falls on the surface of the leaf, the electrons start to move in one direction which generates electricity. The newly generated energy is then channeled water where oxygen and hydrogen split up due to the current.
